In an open letter to the Steilacoom Historical School District community dated April 17, 2013, Superintendent Bill Fritz informed the district that he has agreed to serve as Assistant Superintendent for the Indian River County School District in Florida for the 2013-2014 school year.
Fritz asks in the letter that the school board release him from his contract, effective June 30, 2013, at the next school board meeting scheduled for April 25, 2013 at Pioneer Middle School.
“This position will allow me to be closer to family members in Florida, and will provide me with new learning and leadership opportunities in a larger school system with a more economically diverse population,” wrote Fritz in the letter.
“It has been a pleasure to lead the DuPont, Steilacoom and Anderson Island educational community for the last three years. The teachers, staff, parents, Board, and community here are dedicated to kids and cooperate to support them. And while I will miss the adults here, the nice thing about being a Superintendent in a small school district is that I know many of the students; I will miss them the most.”
