The Lakewood Rotary presented Steilacoom High School’s  Mariah Rodocker with the club’s Student of the Month award during their Feb. 22 meeting.

Rodocker is described as an outstanding student, who has clearly made an impact on the Steilacoom High School culture through her involvement, leadership and community service. One of her teachers calls her an academic “powerhouse” while her counselor simply called her “AWESOME.”

Rodocker, a senior, is taking a rigorous course schedule which includes two advanced placement courses. She is currently serving as the Associated Student Body (ASB) Treasurer overseeing a half a million dollar ASB budget which includes 65 individual accounts. Part of Mariah’s job as treasurer is training other ASB leaders in money management, procedures and protocols. She led the ASB through the process of creating the budget and presented it to the school board.

Rodocker also volunteers in the community, plays sports and works.
