jostens leadership conferenceThe SHSD Community Connections from Feb. 19 reported that Steilacoom High School earned first place at the annual Jostens Leadership Conference, held at Hazen High School in Renton, Wash. on Jan. 28.

Fifty-five spirited Sentinels participated in the Jostens Leadership Conference, which gives students the opportunity to network with leadership students in the region.

This year the conference hosted two inspirational speakers: Mike Smith and Harriet Turk. These speakers shared their stories on learning to overcome obstacles and becoming leaders. Students also attended breakout sessions on networking, bullying, and following your dream. With about 50 schools attending, the amazing Steilacoom High Leadership Team, led by advisor Ms. Keller, earned first place for demonstrating spirit, unity, leadership, and service.

Nice job Sentinels!
